Visit: http://www.nihongo-ok.com/
On the left side of your screen, you will see a
section in English. Ignore other parts of the screen and follow the directions
in English.

First, you must have
resources for Japanese installed from your original installation CDs.
OS X:
- "Easy Installation" installs all the necessary resources automatically.
- Reboot your computer.
- Go to "System Preferences," click on "International," and
select "Japanese (kotoeri) " as well as English under "Input
Menu." When
you
select the "Language" pane, you should be able to see English and
Japanese
there.
Notes on e-mail programs and browsers
- You shouldn't have any problem if you use "Outlook Express," "Entourage
," " Netscape Messenger," "gmail ," etc.
- You can now read Japanese with Webmail.utexas.edu.
Select "Japanese" from the list of languages. If you can't read
Japanese, go to "Message Source" and change "Text Encoding" to "ISO-2022-jp")." Watch UT-Mail for
more .
- If you have a "yahoo" address,
alway open a new "compose" window and don't use "reply".
You might want to get a "yahoo.co.jp" address.
Just visit Yahoo Japan.
- If you use an "AOL" address, instead of going to your regular
site, go to: http://www.jp.aol.com/ This
is the AOL site in Japanese. Once you get to this site, you just maneuver
the way you do in English.
- If you use "hotmail," go
to "Options" and select "Japanese" as one of the Languages.
- If you are a "Linux" user, you can use the program called "xpdf-japanese."
Notes on PDF file in Japanese
If you are unable to read PDF files in Japanese using Adobe Reader, go to: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/acrrasianfontpack.html and
download free"asianfontpack."
Notes on extra Japanese fonts (Mac)
In "Value Pack" on the
"Office X" CD, there is a "Fonts" folder. In it, there
are 5 fonts which names we might not be able to read. Just drag them into
the "fonts"
folder in the Users "Library" folder.
Good luck and e-mail someone in Japanese ^_^
