÷ the clause comes directly before the noun　(no "who," "whom," "which," and "where")
÷ the topic は is not used in the relative clause (は is changed to the subject marker が or の)

私がきのう会った人　 (The person I met yesterday)
私がきのう会った人 は上田さんです。　(The person I met yesterday is Ueda-san.)

きのう買ったケーキ　(The cake I bought yesterday)
きのう買ったケーキを食べましょう。　(Let's eat the cake I bought yesterday.)
