I visited local electronics store BuyNow, and where business was slow, I could see employees huddled around some laptops watching TV. This is how they spend their time at work when there are no customers to help.
I saw the same thing at a couple of the markets we visited, i even saw a few people sleeping on their merchandise.
I had a similar experience walking into stores and they were too busy doing something else (watching tv, texting, etc.) to help you. It surprised me - the shopping experience seemed very polarized. They were either aggressively trying to sell you something and following you around the store, or couldn't care less that you were in the store.
