Governor Abdullahi Adamu of Nasarawa State has been given a wife by the paramount ruler of Aloshi, in Keana Local Government of the state, in appreciation of third class staff of office presented to the Oseshi of Aloshi, Mr Solomon Ogbola Obiokpa.

The gift which took everyone at the occasion last Sunday by surprise, including the governor himself, was made during a vote of thanks by the paramount ruler.

The royal father announced that Miss Selina Adi Sabo is hereby given to you our dynamic Governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu for making our chiefdom and indeed Alago race very proud today. The governor did not utter any word after the pronouncement.

Some of those present at the ceremony, including traditional rulers, friends, local government chairmen, members of the state executive and security council and the state deputy governor, Mr Labaran Maku were seen toasting to the new wife given to the governor.

Speaking at the occasion, shortly after presenting a third class staff of office to the Oseshi of Aloshi, Governor Abdullahi Adamu warned the people of the state against careless handling of fire or combustible materials.

According to him, both private and public institutions have been victims of fire incidence in the past years leading to colossal loss of lives and property. The governor also said apart from losses to lives and property, bush burning also degrades the soul and leads to low agricultural imput.

"We therefore want bush burning to be minimized or completely avoided if possible," he said.
Adamu further called on traditional rulers across the state to initiate deliberate process of dialogue among all the different linguistic groups living in their domains as a means of stemming conflicts.

Speaking earlier, chairman Keana Local Government of the state, Alhaji (Dr) Ahmed Alaga commended Governor Adamu for actualising the yearnings and inspirations of the Aloshi people in particular and the Alago in general and assured the governor support of the people of the area at all times.

The occasion was attended by the former governor of then Plateau State, Brigadier-General Muhammad Mana and many other distinguished personalities.
