The names for the days of the week are initialized signs, with the exception of SUNDAY. Curiously, one variant of THURSDAY has an H-handshape, reflecting the second letter of the corresponding English word. The rapid flicking movement in the other variant of THURSDAY reflects the fact that this sign is a reduced version of a sign that had a sequence of handshapes T-H.
For the sign SUNDAY, the palm is oriented out. For the other ASL names for days of the week, the palm is oriented in. The signs MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY (H-hand variant), FRIDAY, and SATURDAY all have a small circular movement.
The signs EVERY-SUNDAY, EVERY-MONDAY, EVERY-TUESDAY, etc. all have a downward movement in space.
