The た, or ta-form, of verbs is used often in Japanese to create a variety of grammatical constructions.

Uses of ta-form (examples)

• verb ta-form + り + する  -->  "to do things like such and such "
• verb ta-form + ら     -->  tara conditional
• verb ta-form + ら、どうですか     -->  Suggestion
