instruction:
If you are using this exercise as a homework assignment, audio record the session using a recording tool on your computer. For UT students, use the audio submission tool on Canvas.
Exercises in this section are
(1) Questions-and-Answers
(2) Restating statements in different sentence structures.
In each audio file, you have questions/statements followed by a brief silence and then the correct answers. Answer each question or restate statements, then self-check your answer by listening to the correct answer. If you don’t have enough time to answer the question, pause the audio file before you proceed.
(1) Command sentences --> Causative sentences
When you hear command sentences, your task is to restate each sentence
in the causative form. In your answer, include who forced who to do something.
私はサラです。私の弟はエリックです。私はエリックに色々なことを「しなさい (Do it!)」 といいます。 そして、エリックはそれをしなければいけません。 私はエリックに何をさせましたか (What did I force Eric to do?)。
(2) "Let me do something for you." (te-form of causative + ください)
You will hear what problems your company president has. Your task is to offer her your help using the te-form of the causative + ください form.
(3) Embedded Question and "Whether or not"
Izumi is your classmate, but you have never talked to her. Ai is your sister, but you don’t know her schedule very well. You don’t know your schedule either. Answer the questions using the embedded question form (I don’t know what/when/how/etc.) or “whether or not” structures.
(4) 「〜といいうのはInterrogative / Interrogative expression ですか。」
Sayaka is asking questions, but we don't know the words or expressions in her questions. Ask what the word/expression means in each question.
