I am a professor in the Department of Government at the University of Texas at Austin. I received my Ph.D. from Stanford University's Department of Political Science.

My primary areas of study are American politics and statistical methodology. Substantively, I am interested in ideology, voting, and public opinion as well as the behavior of members of Congress and the Supreme Court. My methodological interests include the measurement of ideology and latent traits modeling more generally.

My research has been published in the American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, Journal of Politics, Political Analysis, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences among other outlets.
