JUAN GARCIA ABREGO
The Gulf group headed by Juan
Garcia Abrego and based in Matamoros, Tamualipas State, distributes cocaine
in the United States as far north as Michigan, New Jersey, and New York.
In 1993, DEA receivedinformation
that this group had smuggled cocaine into the United States in excess of 30
metric tons with a street value of hundreds of millions of dollars.
In early October 1994, Mexican
authorities arrested Juan's brother Humberto on money laundering charges.
Several other prominent traffickers associated with the group were arrested
as well. Juan Garcia Abrego was arrested on January 14, 1996, by Mexican authorities.
He was expelled to the United States and arrested on a federal warrant from
Texas charging him with conspiracy to import cocaine and the management of

MARISCO
Le echaron la red al pez
para llevarlo a la cocina
el marisco era muy grande
le sobraron proteínas
y optaron por exportarlo
todito y con todo y espinas.
La charola era de plata
en la que se lo llevaron
ni los güeros le ladean
y el FBI mentado
conocían de cerquita
al pescado enjabonado.
El penco de Matamoros
que les ganó mil carreras
tenía que perder un día;
para el tiempo no hay barreras,
naci&ocaute; en el rancho La Puerta
hecho de buenas maderas.
En Monterrey ya agarraron
aquella papa caliente
a México lo llevaron
ya había que pensar urgente
pos era comer los gringos
o quemar a nuestra gente.
Con pescado enjabonado
el señor que perseguían
resbalaba de las manos
de todos los policías,
al quitarle su jabón
le salieron las espinas.
Como era de espinas grandes
pensaron los mexicanos
que iba vivito y coliando
y les espinaría las manos;
mejor que espine a los güeros
que compran el contrabando.

MARISCO
They threw the net on the fish
To take him to the kitchen
The fish was large
He had more than enough proteins
They opted to export it
because it was so spiny.
The dish was made of silver
In which they took it
Not even the americans could help
And the stupid FBI
Knew him well:
The slippery fish.
The racehorse of Matamoros
Who won them a million races
He had to lose one day;
For time there is no borders
He was born on the ranch La Puerta
he was made from good wood.
In Monterrey they caught him
That hot potato,
They took him to Mexico
We had to think urgently
It was let the Americans eat
Or burn our people.
With the slippery fish
The man they chased
He slipped out of their hands
Of the hands of all the police
When they took away the soap
His spines CAME out.
Because he had big spines
The mexicans thought
That he was alive and kickin
And that he would prick their hands;
It would be better to prick
the Americans
Since they are the ones
who buy the contraband.
