Corrido de Uriangato
The Mexican Revolution has long been a favorite corrido topic for generations. So much
so that revolutionary corridos are their own genre. While much has been done to
recount the heroics or misjustices of larger more well known battles, it is important to
recognize smaller lesser known battles to help present a more ample picture of the
Mexican Revolution. They are smaller yet no less noteworthy. That is the case of the
battle thattook place on the 24th of June in 1915 in the Mexican town of Uriangato,
Guanajuato when its citizens banded together to stop an attempted takeover by Inés
Chávez García. The use of this corrido continues to this day to preserve and illustrate the
important historical events that resonate deeply with the city.
