fue capturado Cortés.

que a Cortés lo aprehendieron
entre el Sauz y Palafox.

Se aprehendió en Campo de Oveja,
de don Abraham de la Garza,
él perdió toda esperanza,
ya en la frontera de Texas.

pues nuestro hermano Cortés
ha honrado su pabellón.

lamentándose al Creador,
el pabellón tricolor
idéntico a las estrellas.

Gregorio Cortés venía
de incóngnito y lo entregaron,
y así lo determinaron,
porque así les convenia.

en San Antonio, Laredo,
por el gran furor y miedo,
querían acabar la raza.

allí con él conversó,
nada de esto les contó,

siendo integro mexicano.
Diciendo:-¿Cortés y hermano
son ladrones de a caballo?

Are thieves on horseback?"

¡Dios de mí tenga clemencia
adiós, esposa, ay de mí!
por cincuenta años salí
sentenciado, a penitencia.

For fifty years I departed,
Sentenced to the penitentiary.

Así difundió su amor,
