Thank you for your interest in University On-line.  University On-line is a startup company designed to give students free study guides and chat rooms.  We also offer a variety of other services that are designed to simplify the lives of students.  Our goal is to provide a service so useful that students will flock to our sites for their scholastic needs.  We offer free chat rooms that are specified for each department, and subsequently each class offered at the University.  The cost for providing students with these chat rooms to us is negligible (disk space runs around a dollar per megabyte), and the usefulness for theses rooms is expected to be very high.  As a student, I know that I would very much like to enter a chat room specifically designed for my class (ex.  Eco. 328) and be able to access it the night before a test.  Since the service is free to the user;  with conventional advertising, this promises to be a highly useful site. To furthermore entice students to enter our site, we will also offer free study guides to students, created by our professional staff of tutors.  We will also offer tutorial services (at a competitive rate) for those who need personal attention.

Now let’s talk a little about costs.  Our free study guides and chat rooms, as well as most of our basic operations, will be funded by our sponsors who will pay to advertise on banners at the top of each page, as well as coupons that we will offer in our Coupon page.  We will attain sponsors by showing them the amount of hits that our site receives.  If our site is free and useful to the user, we will be able to support a high number of hits.  There are several businesses that find it valuable to market to the large number of college students.  If we can provide the businesses with a specific number of people that are guaranteed to see their advertisements, it should not be a problem to get sponsors.  And, by providing a free and valuable service to students (most of which receive Internet access from the University at almost no cost at all (about $30 a semester), this will be a service that will be as valuable to the company advertising on it, as it will be to the student using it.

Finally, we are also a tutorial service.  For this part of the business, we will act exactly like any profit maximizing tutorial firm (like House of Tutors) providing students with the ability to contact their tutors in chat rooms, via e-mail, or in person at our physical location.
